  • Construction of Mid America Arts Alliance will be complete in time for their first grand opening event, Live in the Crossroads on Friday June 7, 2013. This event will feature The Elders from Kansas City and the Mountain Hillbilly Band from Arkansas performing in the parking lot. MAAA renovated building will have multiple galleries including the Culture Lab™ and the more public Convening Space. The ExhibitsUSA will display Advancing Tradition in the Culture Lab and artwork from the OK KC exhibition will be located in the Convening Space. Here are some images to give you a taste of what is to come once the remodel is complete!

  • Naismith Hall is under new ownership, The Bromley Companies. Sabatini Architects was selected to design the renovations. The First Floor Remodel includes a complete overhaul of the entire floor. Check out these renderings to see what’s to come!

  • Zahner’s built canopy was placed onto Bruner Contracting’s carefully placed supports during the University of Kansas’ spring break. Note the Jayhawk perforations (who can guess how many Jayhawks?). It will look even better when LED backlighting is completed.

  • Welcome to the newly renovated Ballroom at the KU Memorial Union! The 11,000 SF remodel was executed around 50 days from construction start to finish, and what a transformation! Congratulations to our partners at the KU Memorial Union and MarLan Construction on a job well done.

  • The Chancellor’s residence is getting ready for the holidays. As in the past three years, Sabatini Architects was asked to plan and procure holiday décor for the interior and exterior of the residence. The refined décor will include lighted evergreen garland around the porch railings and exterior columns, evergreen wreaths, garland along the main interior staircase, floral, hearth and table arrangements and of course, a Christmas tree with all the trimmings. Decorations were installed first of December, just in time for the holiday season.

  • After a successful bid process, preparations have started to revamp the entry for KU’s largest dining hall, Mrs. E’s Dining Commons. Bruner Contracting of Kansas City will be heading up the construction team. With the dorms closed for the holiday break, windows and concrete floors will be removed and Mrs. E’s will have a new aluminum entry canopy complete with custom Jayhawk perforated signage by A. Zahner Company.

  • Mar Lan Construction was awarded the project. Construction is off to a fast start on this fast track construction schedule to have all work complete by the end of January. With demolition and framing completed in a matter of a few days the project is on track to finish on schedule.

  • Design continues for the facelift of the flagship bookstore at the KU Memorial Union. We created a design to enhance branding to initiate opportunities for simple messaging and provide visual clarity for the shopping experience. This will include cutting edge technology and highlighting. Stay tuned for progress-construction is set to begin this spring.
