• In the midst of construction at Mid America Arts Alliance, the existing floor slab was removed to bring the new convening space down to street level for easy public access at the entry. The space will be used to display art exhibits or open the doors to host First Friday events right off the sidewalk. The high density ridge insulation board is ready to be installed to support raised floor slab for the bridge and open office area beyond.

  • BA Green has begun construction on the St. John School Expansion project. Demolition in the existing utility room is underway to make way for the new elevator. Excavation for the new building is complete and foundation work will begin in the coming weeks. We’re excited to see this project move forward.

  • The Lawrence Community Shelter is moving quickly toward completion by the first of the year. Beds and kitchen equipment have arrived and everyone is working hard to meet the move in deadline of December 31st ! A shout out needs to go to two of our clients, Mid America Arts Alliance and the University of Kansas have generously donated furniture for the Lawrence Community Shelter. Many other donations are expected prior to move in. Still needed are linens, pillows, blankets, mattresses, etc.

  • Bowersock North Shore Plant construction continues expanding their renewable energy capacity to the north side of the Kansas River. As you cross the Kansas River into Downtown Lawrence, be on the lookout for the final touches to the building as generators are being installed. Expect them to start generating additional clean renewable hydropower in November.

  • Scotch Dry Cleaners in North Topeka has a new store at 2007 NW Topeka Boulevard! The project was designed so it could be built in phases to allow the existing facilities to remain in business. Scotch recently moved into the first phase building that is now complete. Mar Lan Construction continues to work on construction of the second phase portion of the new building. Jimmy Johns Sandwiches will be their new neighbor once construction is complete.

  • Mid America Arts Alliance announces Centric Projects as their General Contractor. Construction will soon begin for the renovation that includes a new Culture Lab, convening spaces, office and support spaces. The Crossroads District and Kansas City Metro are in for a treat as they will be able to experience the exhibits and performances here first before they tour other cities in MAAA’s six state region.

  • The Lawrence Community Shelter kicked off its ground breaking August 14, 2012. A little over a month into construction and BA Green, the General Contractor is nearing the half way point in completing the project. The Shelter will move from a willfully inadequate facility to one that allows more workable area for assistant type programs. The new facility will provide kitchen facilities, offer a medical clinic and expanded jobs program. Project completion is anticipated by the end of this year. A public Open House is scheduled for the afternoon of December 2.
