Lawrence Public Library Conceptual Design, Lawrence, Kansas
With the assembly of a professional team, we submitted a proposal for the new Lawrence Public Library in downtown Lawrence in the East 800 Block of New Hampshire Street, which we believe will further strengthen the current and recent public and private investment efforts along the New Hampshire corridor. This design solution reinvents the notion of library and how Lawrence approaches the development in downtown. The development intent is to design a civic building set in an active landscape that is open, accessible and flexible, and provides a collaborative element that engages the library staff, propagates innovative ideas and enhances the library experience for the community. It is innovative, cost effective, and thoughtful of the design concerns of both the City of Lawrence and the Lawrence Public Library.
The design earned Sabatini Architects the 2006 Design Award of Merit by the Society of Registered Architects.
